Weekends are never long enough

Last week was beyond busy! I thought it would be easy since I was done with my take-over. However, I got the stomach virus, then gave it Mrs. McClary......How many times can you get the stomach virus in your life? I think I should be reaching my limit.

This weekend Josh and I met with our DJ, and we love him!!! His is hilarious and seemed to know exactly what we wanted.  After that we some how ended up at Jim's Slack Shack, which means that we picked out a tux for the guys.  I am making Noah and Matt Matt where bow ties! They will be so cute!

Tomorrow is the love my life's birthday! Since I have a dentist appointment and a test to study for, I won't be able to see him :( Life would be so much easier if we lived together.  But since we don't, I took him to Olive Garden yesterday, gosh that place is amazing!

Wednesday I go for my final fitting for my dress!

Two Week Take-Over

So yesterday was the last day of my two week take-over.  For those of you who do not know what that means, it simplely means a took over class for two weeks and created lessons plans for the entire two weeks.  I chose to do mine over WWII.  It is one of my favorite topics!!! I am pumped to say that it went extremely well!!!!! My students behaved well and did awesome on their test!! Their were actually students that made an A on the test who had never made an A in that class!! As a teacher, that is extremely exciting.

One of my favorite lessons was a debate over the usage of the atomic bomb in WWII.  Now when I first entered the classroom many students were making comments about our country.  I asked a student, "Can you prove your point with real hard facts or are you just saying these things because everyone else does?" Of course the student had no hard facts. So I promised myself if they were going to debate then they had to have hard facts to prove their point.  I am someone who believes that everyone person is entitled to his or her opinion, as long as he or she has proof..accurate proof.  So I provided my students detailed accounts of both bombs, reason why they were dropped, and the long term effects of the bombs.  By the end of the lesson, people who had once believed that it was necessary to drop the bombs started questioning that.  I also passed out candy to people who made intelligent remarks.  My students LOVED this lesson! They told me that they liked being informed on everything that happened and being able to express their opinion on it.  I liked it because it made them read and then THINK for themselves.

So now the only thing that stands between me and graduation is 68 days and one paper!! EEKK!!!  And next weekend we are going to meet with our D.J.  I am so glad the month of February flew by, now I need March to do the same thing.

Also Josh's car is officially in the shop and about 1/3 of the way finished!!
